The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 2,689 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
2,689 managers reported a position, together holding 999.5m shares, or 90.5% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- TJX's fiscal year ends on the Saturday nearest 31 January. The most recent 10-Q on file as of 17 August 2026 covers Q1 fiscal 2027 (13 weeks ended 2 May 2026, filed 29 May 2026); the Q2 fiscal 2027 10-Q, which would cover the quarter ending on or about 1 August 2026, had not yet been filed as of 17 August 2026 per the EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0000109198.
- TJX carries two disclosed equity-method minority investments on its balance sheet, both in Other assets: a 49% joint-venture stake in Multibrand Outlet Stores (MOS, Mexico, with Grupo Axo) and a 35% stake in Brands for Less (BFL, UAE/Saudi Arabia). Both are reported on a one-quarter lag. As of the Q1 FY2027 10-Q (period ended 2 May 2026), the Company stated no impairments of either equity method investment existed.
- MOS carrying value by period: $168 million (FY2025, ended 1 Feb 2025), $218 million (FY2026, ended 31 Jan 2026), $226 million (Q1 FY2027, ended 2 May 2026). Original investment $193 million in Q3 FY2025.
- BFL carrying value by period: $336 million (FY2025, ended 1 Feb 2025), $348 million (FY2026, ended 31 Jan 2026), $340 million (Q1 FY2027, ended 2 May 2026). Original investment $358 million in Q4 FY2025.
- Familia, the Russian off-price retailer, is NOT a current holding. TJX's FY2023 10-K (period ended 28 January 2023) states plainly that in fiscal 2023 TJX 'divested our minority ownership interest in Familia' in connection with the Russia-Ukraine conflict 'and did not recover the full value of our investment,' after a write-down that cost $0.14 per diluted share (a 0.4 percentage point hit to fiscal 2023 pre-tax margin). Subsequent 10-Ks, including the FY2026 10-K filed 31 March 2026, repeat the same divestiture language as a standing risk-factor example without naming Familia, and neither the FY2026 10-K nor the Q1 FY2027 10-Q mentions Familia, MOS and BFL being the only two equity-method investments listed. This is a sourced 'no longer held' finding, not a gap.
- Two register percentage denominators are used because 13F report dates differ: Vanguard's most recent Form 13F-HR is for the quarter ended 31 December 2025 (Vanguard filed 13F-NT notices, not 13F-HR, for the March and June 2026 quarters, meaning its subsequent holdings are reported by other Vanguard reporting managers and are not visible under CIK 0000102909). All other institutional rows use the quarter ended 30 June 2026. Percentages for each are computed against the nearest 10-Q/10-K cover-page share count rather than a count from the filing itself.
- TJX's DEF 14A (filed 30 April 2026) separately discloses BlackRock at 99,658,272 shares (8.9%) and Vanguard at 96,205,314 shares (8.44%), but both figures are sourced to stale Schedule 13G/A filings (BlackRock as of 31 December 2024, filed 5 February 2025; Vanguard as of 31 December 2023, filed 13 February 2024). The register above uses each manager's own, more recent Form 13F-HR instead. The proxy also notes Vanguard Group Inc. (VGI) subsequently reported an internal realignment under which certain subsidiaries/business divisions now report their TJX holdings separately from VGI on a disaggregated basis, which may explain part of the gap between the 13G and 13F figures.
- TJX has a single class of common stock, $1.00 par value, one vote per share. There is no dual-class structure and no founder control block: the largest insider position, CEO Ernie Herrman's 466,759 shares, and Executive Chairman Carol Meyrowitz's 208,605 shares, are each under 0.05% of the company. All directors and executive officers as a group hold 1,644,633 shares, under 1% of shares outstanding per the proxy.
- Percentages in the register are computed by this research against a stated share count, not taken from the 13F filings themselves (13F filings do not report percent of class).
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- TJX's current market capitalisation and shares outstanding as of a specific 17 August 2026 date. No live quote or market-cap source was fetched in this task; shares_outstanding is instead the 10-Q cover-page count (1,104,704,446 as of 22 May 2026), and market_cap_usd / market_cap_as_of are left null rather than estimated from a stale price.
- Any TJX equity-method or minority investment activity during Q2 fiscal 2027 (quarter ending on or about 1 August 2026). The 10-Q for that quarter had not been filed as of 17 August 2026 (checked the EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0000109198), so any new stake taken or change in the MOS/BFL carrying values during that quarter is not yet visible.
- Share counts for MOS and BFL (both private, held via equity-method accounting) are not disclosed by TJX in any unit other than percentage ownership and USD carrying value; no per-share figure exists to source, so shares/value_price_per_share are null by design, not by omission.
- Whether Familia, once divested, retains any residual value or contingent consideration to TJX. Searched the FY2023 through FY2026 10-Ks and the Q1 FY2027 10-Q for 'Familia' and for the unnamed 'off-price retailer that operates stores in Russia' language; all mentions describe the divestiture as complete and give no indication of any remaining TJX interest.
- Complete 13F coverage of Capital Research/Capital Group, T. Rowe Price, Norges Bank, and other large asset managers was not attempted within the time budget; only the nine institutions the brief named plus Invesco and Bank of America were checked.
- No Schedule 13D or 13G/A has been checked for TJX beyond the two stale 13G/A citations embedded in the FY2026 DEF 14A (BlackRock as of 31 December 2024, Vanguard as of 31 December 2023); a fresh EDGAR full-text search for more recent 13D/13G filings on TJX was not run.
