The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 2,634 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
2,634 managers reported a position, together holding 734.0m shares, or 89.6% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Salesforce does file Form 13F under its own CIK 0001108524, file number 028-18467, and has done so periodically since at least 2019. However its most recent 13F-HR (period 30 September 2023, filed 9 November 2023) reported zero securities: the information table's single row reads nameOfIssuer 'No securities', value 0, tableValueTotal 0. No 13F-HR or 13F-NT of any kind has been filed under this CIK since that filing, through the EDGAR submissions feed checked 17 August 2026. This is read as Salesforce, Inc. (the operating company itself, as distinct from Salesforce Ventures activity reported through the balance sheet) currently holding no 13(f)-reportable securities in its own filer capacity, consistent with the balance sheet showing only $3 million of publicly held strategic equity securities (see below), far under the $100 million 13F threshold.
- Strategic investments carrying value on the balance sheet was $7,772 million as of 30 April 2026 and $7,591 million as of 31 January 2026 (Form 10-Q, Note on Strategic Investments). The 10-Q states the portfolio 'consisted of investments in over 450 companies with a combined carrying value of $7.8 billion' as of 30 April 2026. This is a combined balance across all 450+ investees with no per-investee breakdown disclosed, so per the brief no single investee is sized from it; holdings is empty for this reason, not from an absence of activity.
- Of the $7,772 million strategic investments balance as of 30 April 2026, only $3 million is 'Publicly held equity securities' (Fair Value measurement category); $7,612 million is carried under the Measurement Alternative (used for privately held equity without readily determinable fair value) and $157 million is 'Other'. As of 31 January 2026 the publicly held figure was $5 million. Salesforce's material public-market strategic equity exposure is therefore immaterial in dollar terms as of the most recent filed quarter.
- The 10-Q discloses that two unnamed privately held investments each individually exceeded 5 percent of the strategic investments portfolio and together represented approximately 37 percent of the portfolio (about $2.9 billion) as of 30 April 2026 (35 percent as of 31 January 2026). It also states the five largest privately held equity securities together represent $3.7 billion. None of these investees are named anywhere in the 10-Q. No holding row was created for any of them; this combined disclosure is recorded here and in unknowns rather than attributed to any named company.
- Excluded from holdings as wholly owned operating subsidiaries: Informatica (credit agreements in the 10-Q are named for it, consistent with a closed acquisition), Slack, and Tableau. Consistent with the brief's exclusion of wholly owned subsidiaries.
- No mention of OpenAI, Anthropic or any other AI-lab equity stake was found in the full text of the 30 April 2026 10-Q (searched both terms directly); Salesforce's AI relationships as disclosed in this filing are commercial/product partnerships, not sized equity holdings.
- Shares outstanding fell from 929,000,000 (31 January 2026, FY2026 10-K) to 819,000,000 (21 May 2026, Q1 FY2027 10-Q cover) because of a $25.0 billion Accelerated Share Repurchase program entered in March 2026, funded by proceeds of the March 2026 notes. The ASR delivered approximately 103 million shares (about 80 percent of the total expected) in Q1 FY2027 at an average price of $198.34; final settlement is expected in the second half of fiscal 2027. This large one-quarter change is real and filed, not a data error, and it is why 13F rows dated 30 June 2026 use the 21 May 2026 share count as the closest available denominator rather than the 31 January 2026 count.
- Vanguard reconciliation, recorded rather than resolved. Three different Vanguard-family figures exist: (1) Form 13F-HR under CIK 0000102909 'Vanguard Group Inc', period 31 December 2025, filed 29 January 2026: 89,843,166 shares (used in the register). Vanguard filed Form 13F-NT (notice, no holdings) under this CIK for the quarters ended 31 March 2026 and 30 June 2026, so no fresher 13F-HR figure exists under this CIK. (2) Salesforce's own 2026 proxy states 83,624,885 shares (10.2 percent) for 'The Vanguard Group', sourced to a Schedule 13G/A filed 13 February 2024, nearly two years stale. (3) A Schedule 13G filed 30 April 2026 (period of report 31 March 2026) by 'Vanguard Capital Management LLC', at the same 100 Vanguard Blvd, Malvern PA address as The Vanguard Group, reports 68,562,595 shares (7.42 percent) under CIK 0002100119, a different CIK from the historic 'Vanguard Group Inc' filer, consistent with an internal Vanguard entity realignment referenced in the proxy text itself ('due to an internal realignment, it no longer has, or is deemed to have, beneficial ownership over Company securities beneficially owned by various Vanguard subsidiaries'). The register uses the 13F-HR figure as the strongest single source, per the brief.
- BlackRock and State Street cross-checks: the proxy's stale 13G-sourced figures (BlackRock 72,882,619 shares/8.9 percent as of an earlier date; State Street 49,018,644 shares/6.0 percent, sourced to a 16 October 2024 13G) are reasonably close to the fresher 30 June 2026 13F-HR figures used in the register (BlackRock 72,748,909; State Street 44,869,478), supporting the 13F figures as current and consistent.
- Salesforce has a single class of common stock, $0.001 par value, one vote per share; no dual-class structure and no founder super-voting block. Benioff's 2.8 percent (proxy) is ordinary common stock with standard voting rights.
- Register rows sourced to 13F-HR filings sum to approximately 32.9 percent of shares outstanding across 8 institutional holders; the insider group adds a further 3.5 percent (Benioff, Morfit/ValueAct and Harris are individually broken out within that aggregate and must not be added on top of it).
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Salesforce's Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q, covering the quarter ending on or about 31 July 2026, had not been filed as of 17 August 2026 (checked the EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0001108524, most recent 10-Q remains the quarter ended 30 April 2026). Any strategic investment activity, share buybacks, or share count changes during that quarter are not yet visible.
- The identities of the two unnamed privately held strategic investments that each exceed 5 percent of the portfolio (about 37 percent combined, roughly $2.9 billion) as of 30 April 2026. Searched the full text of the Q1 FY2027 10-Q for 'strategic investment' and 'measurement alternative'; the filing discloses the aggregate percentage and dollar magnitude but names no investee, consistent with the brief's bucket-trap warning. Could not confirm these are (or are not) any commonly reported names such as OpenAI or Anthropic; no such names appear anywhere in the filing.
- Whether Salesforce Ventures holds any single publicly traded position large enough to be individually material. The $3 million 'publicly held equity securities' balance as of 30 April 2026 is too small and too aggregated to attribute to any one issuer, and Salesforce's own 13F-HR filings (last filed for the September 2023 quarter, reporting zero securities) confirm no reportable public position currently exists at the filer level.
- A precise 30 June 2026 Salesforce shares-outstanding figure. Used 819,000,000 (21 May 2026, the closest filed count) as the denominator for all 30 June 2026 dated 13F rows; actual count on that date is not independently confirmed and could differ modestly given the ongoing ASR settlement.
- Any sovereign wealth fund position (e.g. Norges Bank) in Salesforce. Norway's Norges Bank Investment Management does not file Form 13F (consistent with the pattern noted in the sibling Broadcom research); no alternative filed source for its Salesforce position was located within the time budget.
- Whether ValueAct Capital's Morfit-linked position (2,994,509 shares, 0.37 percent as of 25 March 2026) has changed since that date. It sits below the 5 percent threshold that would require a standalone Schedule 13D/13G, so the proxy is the only available source and no more current figure could be sourced.
- Capital Research/Capital Group's position, a name commonly appearing among large CRM holders, was not investigated within the time budget; no CIK was checked for it.
