No position on this side carries a sourced value, so there is nothing to chart. The table still lists 1 of them.

The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 2,195 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
2,195 managers reported a position, together holding 1.09bn shares, or 85.4% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Medtronic plc is Irish-domiciled with a fiscal year ending in late April; its FY2026 Form 10-K (period ended 24 April 2026) was filed 18 June 2026 and is the most recent SEC filing overall, more recent than the last 10-Q (filed 24 Feb 2026, for the quarter ended 23 January 2026). The EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0001613103 (checked 17 August 2026) shows no subsequent 10-Q, consistent with Medtronic's FY2027 Q1 10-Q not yet being due.
- shares_outstanding (1,280,045,190) is the FY2026 10-K cover-page count as of 12 June 2026, the freshest company-reported share count available. Register rows use different, closer-in-time denominators where a fresher one exists for that holder's as_of date (see each row's pct_denominator); this mirrors the reconciliation approach used in the waste-management.json reference file.
- Medtronic does not file Form 13F under CIK 0001613103. The EDGAR submissions feed contains no 13F-HR or 13F-NT of any vintage among its form types, consistent with Medtronic being an operating company rather than an institutional investment manager.
- Vanguard's most recent 13F-HR under CIK 0000102909 with actual holdings covers the quarter ended 31 December 2025 (filed 29 Jan 2026); Vanguard filed only notice-only Form 13F-NT (no information table) for the quarters ended 31 March 2026 (filed 8 May 2026) and 30 June 2026 (filed 13 Aug 2026), so no fresher Vanguard share count is available from that CIK. All other institutional register rows use each filer's 13F-HR for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, filed in early-to-mid August 2026.
- The FY2026 10-K's 'Equity Securities, Equity Method Investments, and Other Investments' note reports a combined $824 million total at 24 April 2026 ($951 million at 25 April 2025), split by ACCOUNTING CATEGORY, not by investee: investments with readily determinable fair value (marketable equity securities) $130m; investments for which the fair value option has been elected $0 ($140m in FY2025); investments without readily determinable fair values (measurement alternative: cost minus impairment) $616m ($705m in FY2025); equity method and other investments $78m ($89m in FY2025). Per the brief, a combined balance sizes no single investee, so only the one investee the filing names directly (Mozarc Medical, see holdings) is recorded; the $616m and $78m buckets, which almost certainly contain Medtronic's minority corporate-venture stakes in medtech startups, name no individual investee anywhere in the filing and are recorded here rather than split.
- Mozarc Medical's fair value is inferred to sit in the 'investments for which the fair value option has been elected' category: that category's balance fell from $140m (FY2025) to exactly $0 (FY2026), matching the 10-K's dedicated Mozarc note, which states cumulative losses (including $140m recognized in fiscal year 2026 alone) 'reduc[ed] the fair value of the investment to zero as of the end of fiscal year 2026'.
- CathWorks was a separate, previously-held 15% equity interest (plus a debt investment and an option on the remaining 85%). Medtronic exercised its option and acquired the remaining 85% on 3 February 2026, making CathWorks a wholly owned subsidiary by fiscal year end; it is therefore excluded from holdings per the brief (wholly owned operating subsidiary), not recorded as a minority stake.
- Medtronic has a single class of ordinary shares, $0.0001 par value, one vote per share; there is no dual-class structure and no founder control block. CEO Geoffrey S. Martha's insider position (0.15% of shares outstanding) is not individually or collectively a control stake.
- The 2025 DEF 14A (filed 25 Aug 2025, for the AGM held 16 Oct 2025) is the latest proxy statement; a newer proxy for the autumn 2026 AGM was not yet filed as of 17 August 2026. The proxy's own 'Security Ownership' table lists only Vanguard (9.72%) and BlackRock (9.41%) as >5% holders, each sourced by the proxy itself to each manager's Schedule 13F for the quarter ended 30 June 2025; the register above instead uses each manager's own, more recent 13F-HR filings.
- Market capitalization ($116.83 billion) and the current share price ($91.27) are stockanalysis.com's reported figures as of 14 August 2026 close (aggregator basis); cross-check: 1,280,045,190 shares x $91.27 implies approximately $116.83 billion, consistent.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Whether any specific, named company sits inside the FY2026 10-K's $616 million 'investments without readily determinable fair values' bucket or its $78 million 'equity method and other investments' bucket. Searched the FY2026 10-K's investments note and the MD&A for 'equity method', 'non-marketable', 'nonmarketable', 'measurement alternative', 'strategic investment', 'minority investment', 'equity securities', 'cost method', and 'unrealized gain'; the only investee named anywhere in the filing is Mozarc Medical (recorded in holdings) and CathWorks (now wholly owned, excluded). Medtronic's corporate-venture minority stakes in medtech startups referenced generically via 'minority investments' gain/loss lines in non-GAAP reconciliations are not individually named.
- The exact identities of the 2 unnamed current executive officers included in the proxy's 'Directors and executive officers as a group (18 persons)' row but not individually listed in its beneficial ownership table (16 named rows for directors and Summary Compensation Table officers).
- Medtronic's FY2027 Q1 10-Q (covering the quarter ending on or about 24 July 2026) was not yet filed as of 17 August 2026 per the EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0001613103; any equity position or CathWorks/Mozarc valuation change since 24 April 2026 would not yet be visible.
- No sovereign wealth fund position (e.g. Norges Bank) could be sourced within the time budget; sovereign funds typically hold via non-13F index mandates outside the US.
- Capital Group / Capital Research International's and T. Rowe Price's 13F positions were not looked up individually within the time budget; only the seven managers named in the brief (Vanguard, BlackRock, State Street, Geode, FMR, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan) plus the proxy's 5-percent-and-above and top named insider disclosures were pulled for the register.
