The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 2,008 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
2,008 managers reported a position, together holding 106.1m shares, or 91.0% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- McKesson's fiscal year ends 31 March. The latest 10-Q on EDGAR (checked 17 August 2026 against CIK 0000927653's submissions JSON) covers the quarter ended 30 June 2026 (fiscal Q1 2027), filed 5 August 2026: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/927653/000092765326000234/mck-20260630.htm. The latest 10-K covers fiscal year 2026, ended 31 March 2026, filed 8 May 2026: https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/927653/000092765326000069/mck-20260331.htm. Both were fetched and searched for this file. No Q2 FY2027 10-Q (quarter ending on or about 30 September 2026) had been filed as of the check date.
- Change Healthcare: McKesson fully separated its interest in Change Healthcare LLC on 10 March 2020 via a split-off of PF2 SpinCo, Inc. into Change Healthcare Inc., in a Reverse Morris Trust-style transaction. Confirmed against the FY2026 10-K, which mentions Change Healthcare only once, as a tax risk factor concerning that 2020 split-off ('we might not realize the expected tax treatment from our split-off of Change Healthcare'). The term does not appear anywhere in the latest 10-Q (period ended 30 June 2026). No residual equity holding is recorded; McKesson exited Change Healthcare in full more than six years before this file was written.
- Direction trap excluded from holdings: on 1 June 2026, Apollo Funds invested approximately $1.25 billion in convertible preferred equity of McKesson's Medical-Surgical Solutions business, acquiring an approximately 13 percent noncontrolling interest in that McKesson subsidiary. This is someone else's stake in a McKesson entity, not something McKesson owns, so it is excluded per the brief.
- A combined balance covering several investees sizes none of them: McKesson's FY2026 10-K discloses that its 'investments in equity and debt securities of U.S. growth stage companies' in the healthcare industry had a combined carrying value of $227 million at 31 March 2026 and $103 million at 31 March 2025, measured under the measurement alternative (cost less impairment, plus or minus observable price changes). No individual company is named, so no holdings row was created; the combined figure is recorded here and in unknowns instead of being attributed to an invented single target.
- McKesson also disclosed a loss of $43 million for fiscal 2025 related to 'one of our equity method investments' without naming the investee. No holdings row was created because there is no name to record; flagged in unknowns.
- Vanguard filing-entity split, recorded rather than resolved. The register uses The Vanguard Group, Inc.'s own Form 13F-HR (CIK 0000102909) for the quarter ended 31 December 2025: 12,104,719 shares. Separately, McKesson's 2026 proxy statement (record date 27 May 2026) lists a 5-percent-plus holder named 'Vanguard Capital Management LLC' at 9,180,981 shares (7.8 percent), sourced to a Schedule 13G that entity filed on 30 April 2026. Per the brief's warning about Vanguard's January 2026 filing-entity reorganisation, these are two different reporting figures for related Vanguard entities and must never be summed; only the 13F-HR row above is included in this register.
- BlackRock disagreement, recorded rather than resolved. The register uses BlackRock, Inc.'s Form 13F-HR for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 (CIK 0002012383): 10,795,054 shares. McKesson's proxy reports BlackRock at 9,207,960 shares (7.9 percent) as of 27 May 2026, sourced to a Schedule 13G/A filed 14 April 2025, which is over a year stale relative to the 13F. The more recent 13F-HR figure was used.
- Wellington Management Group LLP was checked (CIK 0000902219, 13F-HR for quarter ended 30 June 2026) and reported only 48,233 McKesson shares, an order of magnitude below every other row here; it was left out of the register as immaterial rather than included as a top holder.
- Percentages in the register are computed by this research against a stated share count for each filing's own period, not taken from the filer. June 2026 13F rows use 116,590,363 shares outstanding as of 31 July 2026 (Q1 FY2027 10-Q cover page, the closest disclosed count to that quarter). The Vanguard December 2025 13F row uses 122,487,456 shares outstanding as of 30 January 2026 (Q3 FY2026 10-Q cover page). The insider rows use 117,077,745 shares outstanding as of 27 May 2026, the denominator the proxy itself uses.
- Self-gate check: summing shares for the 11 institutional 13F rows (excluding the insider rows, which are members of the aggregate group) gives 45,172,667 shares, 38.7 percent of the 116,590,363 shares outstanding used for company.shares_outstanding. Within the 15 to 55 percent expected range.
- McKesson has a single class of common stock; no dual-class structure. Insider holdings here are small (all named individuals and the full 17-person group are each under 1 percent) because McKesson has no founder-control block; most executive equity value is in unvested performance stock units excluded from the beneficial-ownership table until they vest.
- Market capitalisation of $101.32 billion is the figure published on stockanalysis.com as of the check date (17 August 2026); cross-check: 116,590,363 shares at approximately $869 per share implies roughly $101.3 billion.

Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The individual ownership percentages and carrying values of ClarusONE Sourcing Services LLP, Vantage Oncology Holdings, LLC and SCRI Oncology, LLC. The FY2026 10-K discloses only a combined noncontrolling-interest balance ($395 million at 31 March 2026, $380 million at 31 March 2025) for all three together. Looked in Financial Note on Noncontrolling Interests in both the FY2026 10-K and the Q1 FY2027 10-Q; neither splits the figure by entity.
- The identity and size of the individual 'U.S. growth stage companies' behind the $227 million (31 March 2026) / $103 million (31 March 2025) combined equity and debt securities balance disclosed in the FY2026 10-K Fair Value Measurements note. No company names are given.
- The identity and size of the unnamed 'equity method investment' that generated a $43 million loss in fiscal 2025, referenced in the FY2026 10-K MD&A and segment notes without being named.
- Any Q2 FY2027 10-Q (quarter ending on or about 30 September 2026) figures: not yet filed as of the 17 August 2026 check against the EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0000927653.
- Capital Research/Capital Group, T. Rowe Price and Norges Bank (Norway's sovereign wealth fund) positions could not be sourced within the time budget; not checked for this file.
- Whether any 13D/13G has been filed on McKesson stock by a strategic or activist holder beyond the Vanguard Capital Management LLC and BlackRock Schedule 13G/13G-A filings already cited from the proxy. A dedicated EDGAR search for 13D/13G filings on CIK 0000927653 was not run within the time budget.
