The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 2,651 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
2,651 managers reported a position, together holding 434.8m shares, or 77.5% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Lowe's has a single class of common stock, no dual-class structure and no founder or family control block today. Marvin R. Ellison, Chairman, President and CEO, is the largest individual insider holder at 806,743 shares (0.14% of shares outstanding, including options exercisable within 60 days), per the 2026 proxy statement. All current directors and executive officers as a group (20 people) hold 1,641,856 shares, 0.29% of shares outstanding, so Lowe's is a widely held, institutionally owned company rather than an insider-controlled one. The proxy separately discloses that Sylvia Ellison and Timothy Lollis, relatives of Marvin R. Ellison, and Jonathan McFarland, a relative of EVP Stores Joseph M. McFarland III, are Lowe's employees under the related-person-transactions disclosure; none are beneficial owners of note and none are included in this register.
- Register shares and values for the seven institutional rows are 13F figures as of 30 June 2026, taken directly from each filer's own Form 13F information table on EDGAR (Vanguard summed across 8 separate Vanguard advisory-entity CIKs that reported a Lowe's position; three further Vanguard-affiliated CIKs checked, Vanguard Advisers Inc, Vanguard Marketing Corporation and Vanguard Capital Wealth Advisors, reported no Lowe's position and are excluded). JPMorgan Chase's 13F share and value figures exclude two small option positions (164,900 and 80,100 notional shares) reported separately in its information table under different CUSIPs (548661957 and 548661907); only the common-stock CUSIP (548661107) is counted.
- The 2026 proxy statement's own Schedule 13G/A citations, as of earlier dates, are: Vanguard 56,226,069 shares (10.0%) held at 31 Dec 2025 per a 13G/A filed 7 Jan 2026 (later amended 27 Mar 2026 to disaggregate reporting across subsidiaries); JPMorgan Chase & Co. 36,730,574 shares (6.6%) held at 30 Sep 2025 per a 13G/A filed 31 Oct 2025; BlackRock, Inc. 39,882,058 shares (7.1%) held at 31 Dec 2023 per a stale 13G/A filed 26 Jan 2024. This register uses the more current 30 Jun 2026 13F figures instead, which are close to but not identical to these proxy figures, as expected given the different dates and the fact that a 13F covers only US-custodied long equity positions while a 13G covers total beneficial ownership.
- A separate project file, data/registers/LOW.json, contains an independently built 13F-based register for the quarter ended 31 Mar 2026 (Vanguard family 56,458,756 sh, BlackRock 39,693,036 sh, JPMorgan 37,109,610 sh, Fidelity/FMR family 31,856,967 sh, State Street 24,448,558 sh, Geode 14,112,087 sh, Morgan Stanley 11,096,154 sh, plus many smaller holders down to National Pension Service at 1,350,540 sh). It is broadly consistent with the 30 Jun 2026 13F figures fetched directly for this file and was used only as a cross-check, not as a cited source, since this file cites the underlying SEC filings directly.
- Value_usd for the register rows reflects 13F filing-period market value (as reported by each filer for the 30 Jun 2026 quarter), not restated to the 14 Aug 2026 price used for company.market_cap_usd.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- No equity-method investments, non-marketable equity securities, unrealized-gain disclosures, joint ventures, minority or strategic investments in other companies were found for Lowe's. The FY2025 10-K (filed 23 Mar 2026, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/60667/000006066726000029/low-20260130.htm) was searched for 'equity method', 'equity investment', 'non-marketable', 'measurement alternative', 'unrealized', 'joint venture', 'cost method', 'minority investment', 'strategic investment', 'ownership interest', 'venture capital', 'equity ownership', 'equity securities' and 'available-for-sale securities'; the only equity-security disclosure found is Lowe's own short-term investment portfolio (US Treasury securities, money market funds, corporate debt securities), which is treasury/cash-management activity, not a stake in another operating company, and is excluded per the brief. The most recent 10-Q (filed 28 May 2026, quarter ended 1 May 2026, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/60667/000006066726000072/low-20260501.htm) was also searched for the same terms with zero hits. Lowe's disclosed acquisitions (Foundation Building Materials/FBM and Artisan Design Group/ADG in 2025) are wholly owned operating subsidiaries, excluded from holdings per the brief. Treated as a sourced null (holdings: []) rather than an unresearched gap.
- Exact shares outstanding as of today (17 Aug 2026) could not be sourced. The figure used (560,707,041) is the cover-page count from the Q1 FY2026 10-Q, as of 26 May 2026, the most recent filed count; Lowe's fiscal year runs to late January/early February, so this is its Q1 (quarter ended 1 May 2026) filing. Lowe's Q2 FY2026 10-Q, for the quarter ending around early August 2026, had not been filed as of this research (no 10-Q newer than the 28 May 2026 filing appears in EDGAR) and is the single biggest gap in this file.
- No SC 13D or SC 13D/A filings against Lowe's indicating an activist or strategic block holder were searched directly in this task; only the register sources above (13F filings and the proxy's own 5%-holder table, which lists only Vanguard, JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock as 13G filers) were checked, so a smaller 13D/13G filer outside the top institutional holders could exist unreported here.
- Capital Group (Capital World Investors, CIK 0001422849) was checked as a candidate top holder per the brief's suggested list and returned no Lowe's position in its 30 Jun 2026 13F information table; other Capital Group filer entities were not individually checked, so a Capital Group position through a different filing entity cannot be ruled out.
