The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 4,565 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
4,565 managers reported a position, together holding 1.77bn shares, or 73.5% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Johnson & Johnson has no founder or dual-class structure; it is a widely held, single-class company with no controlling shareholder. The individual insider positions listed (Duato, Taubert, Wolk, Schmid) are the Named Executive Officers with the largest holdings, not a controlling stake: even the full 21-person group of directors and executive officers holds under 0.2% of shares outstanding.
- The register's institutional rows (Vanguard, BlackRock, State Street, JPMorgan, Geode, Morgan Stanley) are taken from the pre-built 13F-derived register at data/registers/JNJ.json (period 31-MAR-2026), not re-derived. Only a curated subset of that register's 40 rows is reproduced here, per the brief.
- JNJ's own Q2 2026 10-Q reports total equity investments of $803m with readily determinable fair value and $832m without readily determinable fair value (non-marketable, mostly private JJDC venture stakes), but does not itemize either bucket by issuer. The 15 holdings listed above are the itemized, readily-determinable-value slice: they came instead from JNJ's own Form 13F-HR (period 30 Jun 2026), which totals $798,650,757 across those 15 public issuers, closely reconciling with the 10-Q's $803m readily-determinable-value figure (the small gap is normal 13F/10-Q valuation-date and methodology differences).
- All 15 holdings are managed by Johnson & Johnson Innovation - JJDC, Inc. (JJDC), JNJ's corporate venture capital arm; JJDC's public positions are reported on JNJ's own 13F-HR rather than a separate JJDC filer CIK.
- Legend Biotech (LEGN) is a JJDC equity stake, distinct from JNJ's separate, larger commercial collaboration and cost-sharing agreement with Legend's Carvykti cell therapy; only the equity stake is captured here as a holding.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The $832m of JNJ equity investments without readily determinable fair value (mostly private, pre-IPO JJDC venture stakes) is not broken out by investee name anywhere in the Q2 2026 10-Q or any other filing found; no private-company holdings could be itemized for this file. Searched: the 10-Q's Note on Equity Investments (search terms 'equity investments', 'non-marketable', 'equity method', 'strategic investment') and EDGAR full-text search for 13D/13G filings referencing JJDC (none since Nov 2024).
- pct_of_target for the 15 JJDC public holdings could not be sourced: each would require that issuer's own current shares-outstanding figure, and JJDC's own Schedule 13D/G filings on these names are all from 2024 or earlier (stale relative to the Jun 2026 13F share counts), so no current percentage was modelled rather than use a mismatched denominator.
- No SC 13D/13G filings by JNJ or JJDC have been made since November 2024 despite JJDC still holding >5% stakes in several small-cap names per the 13F (e.g. Contineum, Rapport, MeiraGTx); could not confirm from a primary source whether ownership has fallen under reporting thresholds or whether required amendments are simply outstanding.
- JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Geode Capital Management's exact 13F filing URLs were not individually re-fetched (values taken as-is from the pre-built data/registers/JNJ.json per the brief's instruction not to re-derive the register); their as_of date is inherited from that register's period (31-MAR-2026).
