The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 2,012 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
2,012 managers reported a position, together holding 3.05bn shares, or 86.0% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Comcast has two classes of common stock. Class A (NASDAQ: CMCSA) carries 0.07949 votes per share as of the 24 April 2026 proxy record date; Class B, held entirely by Brian L. Roberts through a limited liability company of which he is managing member, carries 15 votes per share. Class B's 9,444,375 shares therefore carry a fixed 33 1/3 percent of the combined voting power of both classes, a percentage the articles of incorporation make generally non-dilutable regardless of Class A issuance or repurchases. Comcast previously also had a non-voting Class A Special common stock; the Q2 2026 10-Q cover page and balance sheet list only Class A and Class B as outstanding, so Class A Special is treated here as no longer outstanding (not independently confirmed when it was retired; see unknowns).
- shares_outstanding (3,548,636,573) is the sum of 3,539,192,198 Class A and 9,444,375 Class B shares outstanding as of 15 July 2026, per the Q2 2026 10-Q cover page. Register percentages against institutional 13F holders use the Class A count alone (3,539,192,198) as the denominator, because 13F filers report only Class A positions (CUSIP 20030N101); Class B is not held by any institutional 13F filer, only by Roberts.
- Hulu: Comcast holds nothing. The Q2 2026 10-Q and the FY2025 10-K both confirm the sale is fully completed and settled, not merely agreed. In November 2023 Comcast exercised a put right requiring Disney to buy its approximately 33 percent Hulu interest; Disney paid $8.6 billion then as an advance (of a $9.2 billion minimum equity value). In June 2025 Comcast sold its remaining interest outright, received a final $439 million from Disney, and recognized a $9.4 billion pre-tax gain. The 10-Q states this gain 'primarily resulted' from the Hulu sale in the prior-year period. No Hulu holding is recorded because there is nothing left to record.
- Versant: Comcast retained no equity interest. The Versant cable-networks spin-off (GolfNow, Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, SportsEngine and select cable networks) completed 2 January 2026 via a pro rata distribution of 100 percent of Versant's shares to Comcast shareholders (1 Versant share per 25 Comcast shares held as of the 16 December 2025 record date). The 10-Q states explicitly: 'Following the Versant Separation, we do not beneficially own any equity interest in Versant and no longer consolidate the results of the Versant business.' No Versant holding is recorded; this is the sourced finding, not a gap.
- A further, larger, NOT-YET-COMPLETED separation is in progress: in June 2026 Comcast announced intent to spin off NBCUniversal and Sky (Media, Studios, Theme Parks segments plus the Sky businesses) into a second independent public company, expected to complete mid-2027. Comcast states it expects to retain up to 19.9 percent of that entity for up to one year post-completion. This is recorded in holdings with confidence 'contingent' and basis 'announced_transaction' because no separation has occurred, no entity yet exists, and the 10-Q itself says there is no assurance it will occur or on what terms.
- Atairos is the only individually named, individually sized equity-method-adjacent investee found. Comcast's combined 'Equity method' investments balance was $6,891 million at 30 June 2026 ($6,674 million at 31 December 2025); Atairos alone was $5.0 billion of that (June 2026) / $4.7 billion (December 2025). The remaining roughly $1.9 billion (June 2026) / $2.0 billion (December 2025) of equity-method investments is not broken out by investee in either the 10-Q or the FY2025 10-K, so per the brief's rule against assigning a combined balance to a single investee, no other named investee (for example the regional sports network or theme park partnerships discussed narratively) is assigned a value_usd here.
- Direction-trap items deliberately excluded from holdings: Universal Beijing Resort (majority owned and consolidated by Comcast; the Chinese state-owned consortium's share is a noncontrolling interest on Comcast's own balance sheet, i.e. their stake in Comcast's entity, not Comcast's stake in theirs) and Xumo (Comcast's consolidated, controlled streaming-platform joint venture with Charter Communications; Charter's share is likewise a noncontrolling interest on Comcast's balance sheet). Both are named in the 10-K as sources of noncontrolling-interest income/loss alongside regional sports networks, which are excluded for the same reason.
- Sky Germany: Comcast completed the sale of its Sky operations in Germany on 31 May 2026 for $59 million net pre-tax cash proceeds plus other variable consideration, recording a $9 million pre-tax loss. No equity was retained; this is a straightforward divestiture, not a holding.
- Vanguard filed Form 13F-NT (notice, no holdings table) for the quarters ended 31 March 2026 and 30 June 2026 under its main reporting CIK 0000102909, so its most recent 13F-HR with an actual holdings table is for the quarter ended 31 December 2025; that figure is used here and is correspondingly the most stale row in the register, consistent with how the Broadcom and Disney reference files in this project handle the same Vanguard 13F-NT gap.
- The Comcast 2026 proxy separately discloses older Schedule 13G/A-sourced figures for Vanguard (373,581,278 Class A shares, 10.0 percent, as of 30 May 2025), BlackRock (298,215,422 Class A shares, 7.4 percent, as of 31 December 2023) and State Street (186,826,370 Class A shares, 5.1 percent, as of 31 December 2025), each smaller than or differently dated from the corresponding 13F row used in the register here. The 13F figures are used as more recent and more granular; the disagreement is recorded here rather than resolved further.
- Market cap ($92.9 billion) is calculated by this research: regularMarketPrice $26.18 from Yahoo Finance's quote API as of the 14 August 2026 close, multiplied by 3,548,636,573 total shares outstanding (both classes) as of 15 July 2026. It is not read directly off an aggregator's market-cap page.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Whether Comcast's former Class A Special (non-voting) common stock has been formally retired or merely has zero shares currently outstanding. The Q2 2026 10-Q balance sheet and cover page list only Class A and Class B; searched for 'Special Class A' and found no hits. Not independently confirmed against a specific retirement filing within the time budget.
- Per-investee breakdown of Comcast's combined 'Equity method' investments balance ($6,891 million at 30 June 2026) beyond Atairos ($5.0 billion of that total). Searched the Q2 2026 10-Q and FY2025 10-K in full for 'equity method', 'joint venture' and named partnerships; no supporting note tale breaks out the remaining roughly $1.9 billion by counterparty.
- Comcast's percentage ownership interest (if any distinct from majority/consolidated control) in Universal Beijing Resort and in individual regional sports network entities that carry noncontrolling interests. These are excluded from holdings as direction-trap items (Comcast controls and consolidates them; the minority stakes belong to the Chinese state-owned consortium and to RSN co-owners respectively, not to Comcast), but the exact Comcast ownership percentages in each were not separately sourced.
- Whether Comcast holds a specific percentage interest in Xumo, its consolidated streaming-platform joint venture with Charter Communications. The FY2025 10-K names Charter as the JV partner but does not state an ownership split; not sourced within the time budget, and in any case excluded from holdings as a consolidated, Comcast-controlled entity.
- Capital Research/Capital Group, T. Rowe Price and Norges Bank (Norway's sovereign wealth fund) positions in Comcast were not investigated within the time budget.
- No Schedule 13D or 13G filed on Comcast common stock since the 2026 proxy's cited filings (Vanguard 5 June 2025, BlackRock 13 February 2024, State Street 9 February 2026) was separately checked for more recent activity; the 13F route was used instead per the brief's preference.
- Final terms, structure and legal name of the entity to be created by the proposed NBCUniversal Spin-off (announced June 2026, expected mid-2027) are not yet set; the 10-Q itself states there is no assurance the transaction will occur or on what terms or timing, so nothing beyond the stated 19.9 percent maximum retained-interest cap is recorded.
