No position on this side carries a sourced value, so there is nothing to chart. The table still lists 5 of them.

The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 4,222 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
4,222 managers reported a position, together holding 1.44bn shares, or 72.8% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Institutional 13F figures (Vanguard, State Street, BlackRock, Berkshire, Geode, Morgan Stanley, Schwab, Bank of America) come from Q1 2026 (period 31 Mar 2026) 13F-HR information tables, verified line by line against the pre-built register at data/registers/CVX.json using scripts/filing.py 13f; every figure reconciled exactly.
- The Vanguard Group total (184,009,042 shares) sums 9 affiliated Vanguard filing entities per data/registers/CVX.json. The two source URLs cited here (Vanguard Capital Management LLC, 122,484,427 shares, and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC, 42,313,738 shares) together account for 164,798,165 shares, about 89.6 percent of the total; the remaining 7 smaller entities were not individually re-verified against their source filings in this task.
- Chevron's 2026 proxy statement (record date 16 Mar 2026) reports Berkshire Hathaway at 126,093,326 shares (6.70 percent) via footnote (6), citing a Schedule 13G/A filed 14 Feb 2024 with a Dec 2023 measurement date. This file instead uses the fresher Q1 2026 13F figure (84,375,856 shares, 4.23 percent) because it is fifteen months more current; Berkshire's position has fallen below the 5 percent Schedule 13G threshold since 2024 and no fresher 13G/A has been filed. Both figures are legitimate, they measure different dates.
- Chevron owns material equity-method interests in several joint ventures (CPChem, TCO, GS Caltex, SPRC, Angola LNG) that never appear in a 13F because they are not separately listed securities held by Chevron in the US 13F sense; they are disclosed only in the 10-K's Investments and Advances note. Chevron discloses ownership percentages and an aggregate equity-method carrying value ($43,867 million at 31 Dec 2025) but not a carrying value broken out by individual affiliate, so none of these holdings has a sourced value_usd in this file.
- John B. Hess's large personal stake (8,797,298 shares, the second-largest insider position after institutional holders) results from Chevron's all-stock acquisition of Hess Corporation, completed 18 Jul 2025; he joined Chevron's Board the same day and is included as an ordinary member of the directors-and-officers group in the proxy's own table, not excluded as a founder/family vehicle.
- Sum check on the register's aggregate row: the 17 individually named directors and officers in the proxy table sum to 10,670,741 beneficially-owned shares, versus the disclosed group total of 10,838,367 for all 20 persons; the 167,626 share gap belongs to 3 unnamed executive officers not individually listed in the proxy, consistent with is_aggregate marking.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Per-investee carrying values (USD) for CPChem, TCO, GS Caltex, SPRC and Angola LNG. Looked in the FY2025 10-K (cvx-20251231.htm) Note 15 Investments and Advances; only the aggregate equity-method balance and TCO's ~$62m basis-difference figure are disclosed, no individual carrying value.
- SPRC current share count and market value in USD. Looked at the Stock Exchange of Thailand factsheet and Yahoo Finance SPRC.BK; neither returned a figure reliable enough to cite without risk of transcription error, so the position is recorded with the filed 60.6 percent ownership only.
- Share counts for the 7 smaller Vanguard family filing entities (of 9 total) making up the remaining 10.4 percent of Vanguard's register row; not individually re-verified against SEC filings in this task, only taken from the pre-built register.
- Whether Chevron holds any separately disclosed Schedule 13D/G equity stakes in other public companies outside the joint-venture structure. Searched the FY2025 10-K and the Q2 2026 10-Q for 'equity method' and did not find evidence of any such position; Chevron's cross-holdings appear to run entirely through its long-standing equity-method joint ventures rather than discrete strategic stock purchases.
